'Tight Fit' History:

About

Tight Fit's genesis came in 1982 under the group name Fallen Angel. The group included original members, guitarist Joe Locke and lead vocalist Jane Bassett. Soon after, guitarist Augie Miller was added to the line-up and the group's sound began to take shape. Early in 1987, with a couple of member changes, the band re-emerged as Tight Fit. They played local clubs throughout the Muskegon, Michigan area, and in 1988 were joined by Jimi Ray, who gave the group a hard driving drum sound. In 1989 Jay Carr joined and added solid bass playing and a dynamic performing style. In the years between 1987 and 1993, Tight Fit performed at many clubs in the West Michigan area, with a high energy rock sound and stage show that was the trademark of the era. They also competed in and won several "battles of the bands" throughout the region. They served as the opening act for The Romantics at the Pere Marquette Beach Party in 1990 and in the same year performed a live 3 hour radio show on the Grand Rapids radio station, WKLQ. March of 1993 saw the band perform live on the WMKG TV40 Special Olympics Telethon. Fast forward... Tight Fit continues their list of accomplishments by performing at several benefit concerts and, even more recently [July 2005], the band filled the opening slot for Rick Springfield and Ingram Hill at Muskegon's Summer Celebration concert series. Tight Fit is of the opinion that some of the best rock n roll ever written came out of the 70's and 80's. With their act centered on 80's rock, they've thrown in classic tunes from the 70's and the 90's, along with some original material to round out their repertoire.
