The Juno and East Coast Music Award winning band, Sloan, will headline the main stage at Deep River's 2004 Summerfest sponsored by MDS Nordion.
MuchMusic and rock radio regulars, the Halifax-grown group is armed with four distinct song writing voices that when combined with their dynamic instrumentals and melodies brings together a creative blend of Indie rock and the classic Beatles.
"They are a unique group who scored very high on our web-based survey of people's favourite Canadian Bands," said Summerfest Artistic Director Saulius Fidleris.
This year the Summerfest organizing committee took a new approach to picking their headliner band, sending people to the polls to select their favourite and least favourite bands from a list of over 50 distinguished Canadian artists.
Fidleris said: "Sloan had the best balance of votes, with by far the fewest number of ballots against them... making them the perfect pick."
