'Rand Reynolds' History:
BiographyHunkered down in a damp dark basement apartment on the edge of Indiana University, armed with a pre-war Martin guitar, a vintage RCA broadcast ribbon microphone and a case of Jones clear creme soda, guitarist/songwriter Rand Reynolds is feverishly at work on his fourth Modern Hillbilly genre cd, tentatively called "Scorched Earth," a country roots testament bearing witness to the timeless themes that gave early country music its initial brutal edge and mass appeal with its simplicity of heartfelt lyrics and sparse instrumentation. Mix a little raw early Johnny Cash with a mega dose of Quentin Tarantino, and it's Reynolds' powerful style that unveils unsettling, disturbing musical vignettes of what makes men good, bad, both -- or not caring one way or another. Some musicians make music; others make art. Reynolds manages to do both. |
