'Nevermore' History:
InfoSeattle's NEVERMORE welcome you to This Godless Endeavor, a grand overture where musical tapestries are fascinatingly complex while entirely accessible. Interwoven, multi-faceted melodies ceaselessly crisscross creating a fabric portraying life's labyrinthine mosaic. Intense solo work dips and weaves effortlessly into the album's material creating a colorful while consistent whole. A Century Media cornerstone artist, NEVERMORE's unique combination of dark melody and rhythmic brutality, has solidified their place in metals elite hierarchy. "The vision of the future is of blood!" Recorded at England's Backstage Studios (Arch Enemy, Kreator), once again with producer Andy Sneap, This Godless Endeavor captures "the most ripping guitar work we've recorded," says vocalist Warrel Dane. "Born" kicks the album into high gear while grounding it with a hauntingly melodic bittersweet chorus. "Final Product", the video for which was filmed by Kevin Leonard (Himsa, Diecast), talks of man sowing the seeds of his own destruction. Sci-fi aficionados will revel in "Sentient 6" a discussion on artificial intelligence becoming self-aware, and what a physically superior intelligence might decide to do about its human manufacturers. "Holocaust Of Thought" features a stunning guest solo by guitar virtuoso James Murphy (ex-Testament/Death/Cancer). On goes the march of dark subject matter accompanied by a solid wall of sound that is at once monstrously thundering and gracefully lithe. Marking his NEVERMORE recording debut, guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament/Dragonlord), who joined the band during their 2004 touring commitments, herein trades solo duties with Jeff Loomis throughout the album. Hugh Syme (Rush, Aerosmith) provided stark album artwork, which according to Dane, "incorporates our ongoing theme of everyone wearing a mask." "This is your final warning, the holocaust of thought is dawning." Rising phoenix-like in 1994 from cult metal band Sanctuary's ashes, the 1990's saw NEVERMORE record several well-received albums with celebrated producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Queensryche). Honing an overwhelmingly ominous dark melodic sound the core members: Dane, Loomis, Sheppard and Williams, have in the past been joined by guitarists Pat O' Brian (now of Cannibal Corpse) on the two 1996 releases and Tim Calvert (ex-Forbidden) for their 1999 conceptual masterpiece. Dead Heart In A Dead World (2000), produced by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Machine Head), moved Loomis' "skin-flaying" guitar work to the production's forefront, while tireless world touring turned songs "Narcosynthesis" and "Inside Four Walls" into anthemic fan favorites. Followed by 2003's Enemies Of Reality Outburn Magazine's "must-have album of the year," produced by Kelly Gray (Queensryche/Brother Cane), showcased "opuses that often reach dark symphonic peaks" ( Guitar One). Throughout their recording career NEVERMORE have shared the stage with metal's elite including Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Death, Dimmu Borgir, Iced Earth, King Diamond, and Opeth and have performed at Europe's largest rock festivals including the infamous Dynamo and prestigious Wacken Open Air. "Welcome to the end my friend the sky has opened." Appearing on the mainstage of Megadeth's Gigantour alongside Dream Theater, Fear Factory, and Dillinger Escape Plan throughout summer 2005, NEVERMORE ask you to venture out, to experience the unfathomable, to join them on This Godless Endeavor. |
