'Cherish the Ladies' History:
Rounder Records is pleased to announce it has signed acclaimed Celtic women's ensemble Cherish The Ladies to a multi-album deal. The first new album, Woman of the House, will be released on September 27 2005. With over twenty years' experience as one of the premier acts on the international Celtic scene, the all-female supergroup are in a unique position - both influencing and taking part in the current renaissance that is reshaping British Isles traditional music to stunning effect. Woman of the House is a compelling testament to Cherish The Ladies' ability to be simultaneously forward-thinking and securely grounded in traditional Irish music. Cementing their reputation as a ground-breaking and influential ensemble, Cherish The Ladies are joined on Woman of the House by a who's-who of today's finest Celtic musicians and vocalists, among them producer Phil Cunningham, Kate Rusby, Sharon Shannon, Eddi Reader, Karen Matheson, Triona Ni Dhomhnaill, and Donald Shaw. Despite the impressive roster of contributors, the luminous performances of Cherish The Ladies form the core of the album. Featuring the nimble whistles and flutes of member Joanie Madden to evocative ballads delivered by the group's newest member, vocalist Heidi Talbot, Woman of the House is a moving and engaging display of instrumental virtuosity, soul, and - most importantly - heart. |
