'Alice Peacock' History:

Alice Peacock first came to notice in the UK & Ireland when she toured extensively with singer songwriter Lucy Kaplansky. An immediate hit with live audiences in Europe and America her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Real Day’ was regularly featured on radio via the songs “I Hear You Say” and the much played “My Love I Will.” Her second album “Alice Peacock” was issued on a major label with guest appearances from John Gorka, John Mayer and Indigo Girl Emily Saliers. However her desire to control her musical destiny has seen Alice return to the independent label route with the new collection of songs issued on Peacock Music distributed by Universal. “Being back on my own independent label, I have more freedom, women can have more impact if we are given time to develop as artists,” says Peacock. "Who I Am" was recorded at the Hollywood Sound Factory by Andrew Williams best known for his work with Victoria Williams, Peter Case, Dog’s Eye View and the Williams Brothers. One of the outstanding features of the album is the string arrangements by Andrew Williams a disciple of the celebrated arranger Paul Buckmaster. Amongst the musicians contributing to Who I Am are guitarist Danny Howes (Alice Peacock, Tender Idols), bassist Curt Schneider (of Five for Fighting) drummer Jay Bellerose (Suzanne Vega, Paula Cole, Sam Phillips) and on acoustic guitar Andrew Williams. The album’s cover was photographed by legendary rock photographer and visual historian of the last four decades of popular music Henry Diltz. A native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota the Alice Peacock family tree starts out three generations ago from Manchester and Ireland. Another branch of the family came from Germany, her grandfather Fritz Gnass was an actor in Germany appearing in many films including Fritz Langs M; her grandmother was a cabaret composer; her father acted in repertory theatre in the 1960’s; and her mother acted in film and television. Home today is Chicago where she is well known as a musician and songwriter and also for the charity she founded Rock for Reading.
